They like it have it both ways. Firstly, they claim that they are full of love, but when that go's wrong then they expect to say, "If it wasn't for Jehovah i wouldn't be here"

Did anyone hear the expression- If it was`nt for Jehovah I wouldnt stick it
by jambon1 inwhere i live it`s common to hear the brothers/sisters say 'if it wasnt for jehovah i wouldnt be here' - refering to the fact that they are fed up, sick of everyone and they are only staying in the truth for jehovah.
it is normally uttered after a fight in the cong or when someone has done something bad/brought bad publicity etc.
naturally, it is said with a dgree of head shaking.. does this not contradict the idea of a worldwide, supportive & loving brotherhood exsisting among jw's?.

Thats a good idea, don't meet with them at all. My service report has being way down for a few years, and the elders have 3 times asked me for a "shepherding" call, I've just say "thanks, but No thanks", if asked 'why?' I just shake my head. Never forget we are ALL VOLUNTEERS, yuo don't have do to anything.

In my experience and to what I've heard from others, don't give them the impression that you have doubts, they can DF you for that.
If they want to know why you haven't being to meetings, tell them yuo've being too busy, too ill, too much work..etc etc... and thank them for their "help" but keep doing the same things, I do think that after maybe one more visit they'll give up on you. Just don't let on that you have doubts, tell them that you still believe that they are the truth .blah..blah..blah. tickle their eyes and tell them what they want to hear.

Why were you "sure" the JW's had the truth when you joined?
by JH inthis thread is for those who joined on their own....not those who grew up as jw's and dragged into it.... in my case, they seemed to be alone preaching the good news of the kingdom to be on earth and heaven.
they called god jehovah or yhwh.
they preached door to door like mathew 24:14 said.

They were (and still are) good at exposing the lies of other religions, so thats why I think its easy to believe them, and they use the bible to do it too, problem is that they replaced someone else's lies with their own lies, and that can take years to find out, if ever!

Well, actually I found out that they weren't the truth about 5 years ago, but I am still a "JW", I still go to most meetings, I am not on the school, I am not an MS no more etc..etc.. my problem is that every one I know and that I'm related to is a JW, so I have too much too loose, that's why I have to wear a Mask and not use my real name, so that no one will discover the true indentity of the Lone Ranger. LOL
Mean while I do what I can to help those within to see the real truth.

Can a JW be disfellowshipped because of "Materialism"?
by JH inkeeping in mind these verses below:.
for we have brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out.
8 so, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things.

A JW can be disfellowshipped for "conduct not becoming of a christain", so considering the Fact that you can't ask questions when the annoucement is made, I suppose it leaves room that the BOE can DF you whatever they like.

Do you know of gross mistranslations in the JW Bible (NWT)
by greendawn infor all you that have studied the subject what are some big distortions of the original scriptures hebrew and greek, that are to be found in the jw bible (nwt)?
i found that at 1 thessalonians 4:15-17 it says that the living christians in the final days will be snatched up as soon as the dead ones get resurrected.
that blows up the jw belief that the said resurrection occured in 1918 because they weren't taken up at the same time.

In my experience I wouldn't say that they have gross Subtle mistranslations of the bible, but like satan who according to the WTS themselves is a master of deception, they have lots of subtle difference's in there translation, subtle but very Significant, with just a simple verb or noun here or there they change the whole meaning of the verse. I do know of some but there are web sites that list them.

Is jesus birthday year wrong?
by Smoky inyou guys probably heard this before, but it is a 1st for me.. i was watching some of the jesus/christmas history documentaries over the holidays, and for the most part it was the information i heard before in documentaries, but then bam!!,.
it is said that the 'person/church' who calculated the year jesus was born, are off by 3 to 7 years....wow.. have any of you heard this before?.
so, does that mean the whole 1914 calculation is messed up?.
-
The Lone Ranger
not wanting to change the subject, 1914 is based on the date when Jerusalem was destroyed, which the WTS claim is was 607bc, Charles Russel claimed it was 606bc, the dream about the tree being chopped down written in the book of Daniel is then interpreted as giving the years about 2520 years which when counted comes to 1914. It bypass's Jesus birthdate completely, it has nothing to do with it at all. Don’t you guys ever read your Watchtowers? Shame on you !
